b'CONGRATULATIONS TO THE 2021IMARA Woman Magazine Student ScholarsIMARA Woman Magazine is proud to provide scholarships to students attending Historically Black Colleges and Universities in South Carolina. This annual tradition marks the 20th year of our scholarship program and more than $70,000 in scholarship awards. Student scholarships are typically presented to the students as the highlight of IMARAs Black-tie Anniversary Gala, but due to the pandemic the gala was cancelled in 2020 and 2021. Fortunately, with the support of our sponsor, BlueCross BlueShield of SC, we are proud to announce the 2021 IMARA Student Scholars.Each of the students shared their goals for the future below in their own words. We congratulate these outstanding young ladies and wish them success in all their future academic and professional endeavors. Jasmine Goodwin is a Sophomore at Claflin University who is majoring in Business Administration. She says her career goal is to own her own skin care line. After spending hours researching natural ingredients with antibacterialpropertiestohelpherskin,sherealizedthattherewere manyAfricanAmericanandbi-racialwomenlikeherwithissuesand few options. Google just isnt equipped to answer the questions I have, she says. Therefore, she believes its imperative that she earn her degree, network with her peers and company executives while continuing to reach out to Claflin alumnus who are beauty insiders. Danaezha Wade is a Sophomore at Claflin University who is majoring Psychology. She says she plans to pursue a doctoral degree in education and one day oversee both educational and mental health programs geared towardminorityadolescents.Myobjectiveisforstudentstomaximize theiracademicpotential,whileprovidingthemwiththewell-equipped resources necessary to combat intergenerational trauma.Kishauna D. GoodmanisaJunioratMorrisCollegewhoismajoringinCriminalJustice.Sheplansto pursue a career as a forensic scientist.
