MorrisCollegewasestablishedin1908under theauthorityoftheBaptistEducationaland MissionaryConventionofSouthCarolina.As of2023,theCollegeiscelebrating115yearsof operation. Morris College was, originally, a school thattaughtstudentsatelementary,highand collegiatelevels.Theelementaryschoolprogram wasdiscontinuedin1930andthehighschool wasdiscontinuedin1946.Initsearlieryears,the CollegewasaJuniorCollege.OnDecember13, 1978,MorrisColleges70thyearofoperation, theschoolwasgrantedfullaccreditationbythe Commission on College of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. On January 1, 1982, the College took the 42nd slot of being a member of the United Negro College Fund which is the countrys largest Black fundraising organization. Today, Morris is one of the few long-standing HBCUs in the state of South Carolina still going strong. NEW OPTIONS AND OPPORTUNITIESThere is something big coming to Morris. The school is incorporating more options for its student population to further their careers. Beginninginfall2023,studentswill have25differentmajorstochoosefrom. Transitioningfrom21majors,MorrisCollege isimplementingfournewmajorswhichinclude EsportsCybersecurity,EsportsManagement, EsportsVideoGameDesignandSupplyChain Management.President Dr. Leroy Staggers believes that adding these new programs to Morris Colleges offerings will allow students to gain the necessary skills that 20IMARA'
